Indian coated flat steel prices moved higher on a weekly basis as of 1st January 2026. The price of GP coil, Galvalume, and PPGI has risen to ₹64,500 per tonne, ₹76,500 per tonne, ₹71,800 per tonne ex-Mumbai, respectively. The price has been supported by sustained mill hikes and firmer offers across various regions, and along with it, the uptrend in HRC prices, rising zinc costs, which have added pressure and uplifted the prices.
Limited zinc import availability, elevated premiums, and higher replacement costs supported firm pricing for galvanised and galvalume products. However, there has been limited demand; a gradual improvement in buying sentiment in the month of January will encourage some buyers to advance sourcing in anticipation of further increases.
Outlook:
Coated flat steel prices are expected to remain supported through January as mills’ recent hikes continue to hold and market sentiment stays positive. The January mill price list is likely to include an upward trend, which will reinforce the current momentum. However, the extent of additional price gains will largely depend on strong demand recovery across regions as the peak season unfolds.
