On the 10th of November 2025, ship-breaking melting scrap prices fell by ₹200 per tonne in Gujarat’s Alang market. HMS (80:20) was priced at approximately ₹29,800 per tonne ($336/t) ex-yard. Limited trade activity in the region for semi-finished and finished steel products has created bearish sentiment in the market.
Average demand from induction furnace (IF) mills based in Bhavnagar led suppliers to lower their offers. Market players anticipate some downward bias to prices in the near term as mills are operating with low bookings, and purchasers are continuing to be cautious about purchasing.
Outlook:
In the coming days, scrap prices in Alang are expected to remain slightly under pressure, with mills maintaining controlled production levels and limited restocking activity. However, any improvement in finished steel demand or export inquiries could help stabilize prices later in the month.
